Carolyn and I are are pleased to announce the arrival of our daughter, Kayla Lynn Calkins. After a 24 hour labor, Kayla was born on Saturday at 12 minutes after midnight. She weighed in at a beautiful 8 pounds and 0.2 ounces.

Interesting Facts:

• Kayla and mom were in labor for 24 long hours before the little girl decided to "grace us with her presence".

• Kayla's middle name, "Lynn" was given in honor of Carolyn's mom. Lynn is not only an awesome mother, but a fantastic grandmother as well. She drove from Charleston, SC to Cincinnati at breakneck speed to spend the final 5 hours of labor with Carolyn. Based on quick math, Lynn may have traveled "a bit faster" than the posted speed limit to see her grand-daughter born!

• Although not visible in the photos, Kayla has at least twice as much hair as her dad.

• Kayla was extremely excited to witness her favorite team, The Cincinnati Bengals, beat those nasty Pittsburg Stealers, 28-20, on Sunday.
